A bug adventure. I really isn't warm enough for shorts and a tshirt but since ALL of his pants have huge holes in the knees I figure shorts might actually be the better option. It's turning out with both of the kids that I just sort of have to "roll" with whatever they pick out. It's really not worth the battle.Monday, February 22, 2010
Picture(s) of the day
Today Hailey discovered she loves washing cars. This goes right along with all the other things she has recently decided she wants to do "all by herself". The others include getting dressed (highly frustrating process for us all.....darn shirt arms), going to the bathroom, making scrambled eggs (she really has mastered the egg cracking), putting her cream cheese on her crackers, washing her hands, brushing her teeth (only let her to this for fun during the day), getting out of bed and coming downstairs by herself in the morning, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

The Park
One of our favorite parks happens to be a playground at a nearby school. Unfortunately, it's not "our" school but it's very close to our house and we visit it often. The hard part is waiting until school gets out to go. We made the most of a sunny day a couple of weeks ago and headed out for some fresh air and energy burn.
The blue eyes and red hair in our family love the sunshine and fresh air.

Tyler's School Valentines
Tyler's class has a number of parties throughout the year for all the various holidays. The parties are run by the parents and each parent gets to go to one party so everyone "gets a turn". My party was the Valentines party. The first half of the party was crafts and games. The kids made Valentine place mats, played Candy Land, Valentine bingo, and then we made beaded hearts (my craft table). After the "stations" we had cupcakes and then the kids and their sugar highs were let loose in the bounce houses. They ended their day getting their bucket of Valentines.

Valentine
Happy Valentines day to everyone. And a special I love you to my Valentine for all the hard work he does for our family.......at work and at home as the world's best dad.

Toddler Group Valentines
Hailey had her "Valentimes" (love how she says that) party today at school. She was very excited. She has really clung on to the whole valentines/heart/love thing this year and it has been kind of fun. She started class out by making her Valentines holder.
Her next stop was the felt board. It's funny that this is one of her favorite stops each week. She puts everything up and then counts all the pieces. I don't think Tyler played with the felt board once during his two years at WTG. Oh and there were 15 hearts today...in case you were wondering.

the other side of sweetness
I'm pretty sure this girl will always be able to hold her own. She's not really an all or nothing girl. She's more of an ALL all the time at all extremes kind of girl.
But she can definitely be a charmer....just ask her daddy.
She's playing "bad guy Skull" with Ty (a real life game they've adapted from legos)

Creation Station
This is where all of Tyler's creating takes place. Well actually, it's supposed to be contained here but seems to spread through most of the family/dining area each day. Tyler added massive legos to his collection over the holidays and it now requires a whole "space" for his legos. But it is well used. If only I could keep it organized.........

Paper & Tape
Paper and tape have become a crucial supply in our household. Tyler is inspired daily by things he sees in his books, magazines, or on the computer (he's a big fan of the videos on the lego website). Its usually starwars, lego, or superhero related. His inspiration is typically tunneled into one of three things. He wants to print a picture from the computer, make a lego creation about his inspiration, or turn himself into his inspiration. He has become very creative. Especially with his legos, he's been using legos and stickers and pens to create the people he wants to create:

Cyborg and Kit Fisto
When it comes to making a costume for himself it is usually involves paper. He colors, one of us cuts and Tyler tapes. Here is an example:
