hot days and slip n slides

We had a couple of really hot days last week. We don't often hit upper 80's lower 90's the beginning of June! In an effort to cool down without leaving the house we got out the slip and slide. Tyler loved it!! Hailey doesn't really get it. She walks along until she slips and falls and then isn't very happy about the landing. But she does like to play with the sprinkles at the end. The pictures that say more than words are below. I did spend a good portion of this day remembering my childhood summers spent at my Grandma's "warm" pool and wishing we had our own private pool in our backyard that was a little warmer than the freezing hose water. Wouldn't that be fun?? Can't hurt to dream, right? Ok, on to the photos:

Conversation or debate?? I'm not sure....
An encouraging pat....or a big shove
A drink
Of course jumping in the puddles is the most fun of all for Hailey

Legs, not hair

I can't pinpoint exactly what about Hailey has changed recently but she really does seem to be changing. There is something about her that is looking more like a little girl and less like a baby/toddler. And maybe it includes things like she's talking in full sentences, is totally capable of keeping up and participating with Tyler in most everything he does, her unstoppable independence, and the fact that she is two (going on 5). Whatever it is she is definitely growing up. One thing I've noticed in particular is her legs are getting really long. These two pictures may exaggerate their length a little bit but when she's sleeping at night her legs have definitely been growing......her hair has not :).

He made me a pizza

This morning, after his morning TV show, Tyler disappeared up into the playroom. He was up there quietly working on something for quite some time (I believe I got most of the dishes done in his absence :). When he came back he gave me a pizza he had made all by himself (cut out and all!!). It's pepperoni and green pepper....if you were wondering.

I have found his artwork very interesting. When inspired he does some really great work (made a master piece of a school bus the other day). But if I ask him to color or make a picture for someone, it's just a bunch of scribble and he basically has to tell me a story about what it is. Note to self.....stop asking him to do make pictures and let him work when inspired.

Tadpole

We've been to the bigger park by our house a lot the last few weeks. Tyler has been riding his bike a lot there and then there is the water park. As you arrive at the park there is a big pondish place. It has several spots where there is a walk way across the water. And there are always kids here tossing sticks/rocks/ or whatever in. Recently, there have been a massive amount of tadpoles. Tyler was very anxious to catch some and bring them home....hoping I'm sure to see them morph into frogs. So off we went one afternoon, Tyler bubbling with excitement. It took him all of about 2 minutes to catch 5 tadpoles. We brought them home and to say this nicely, we watched them swim slower and slower and slower. We finally returned them to the park yesterday in a much less lively state (sorry mom). With all the hot weather the water has all but dried up and those tadpoles ( the ones left living that is) are crammed in a tight pack. But still there are constantly kids here trying to catch anything and everything.
