Snowflake Lane

Another tradition of our is going to Bellevue for Snowflake Lane one night.  It's one of my favorites.  We go and have dinner at Red Robin, walk around the mall (ie go to the lego store) and then watch the performance.  It's so fun to see the characters and the drumming is obviously the hit of it all.  Tyler loves the drummers.  And of course the kids love to watch is "snow".

pool party

The last day of school before winter break Tyler was invited to a pool birthday party.  A new pool  just opened up in Lynnwood and it was the perfect spot for a birthday party.  The pool wasn't really set up for real swimming but there were water guns, a dumping bucket, lazy river and water slides.  Perfect for a group of 1st grade boys!  Tyler has a blast with all of his friends.

Gingerbread House

The first week of winter break before Christmas went so fast.  We were busy getting ready for Christmas and doing all kinds of Christmas type things.  Both Tyler and Hailey were very excited to decorate the gingerbread house.  Tyler decorated the front and Hailey decorated the back.  The sides got a couple squirts of frosting but the worked so hard on the front and back that they lost enthusiasm for the sides :)

so excited to start

the initial candy selection....we added to it :)

Hailey's Christmas Program

Hailey's preschool always has a singing Christmas program.  Usually she is very excited for these types of events.  This year however she had had the flu earlier in the week and for some reason she just didn't want to go.  There were lots of tears and door slams but we eventually made it out the door.  Once she got the room with her classmates she was fine.  It was a great show by the kids.

My name is Hailey, Merry Christmas.

The kids couldn't keep their eyes off the huge screen behind them.

Lights of Christmas

WE made out annual trip the the Lights of Christmas a little later than usual this year but I'm glad we made it.  The last few years we've gone during the week and usually the first week it is open.  It's a little harder to do the late night weekday things now that Tyler is in school all day and has other after school things going on.  But we finally made it on a Sturday night the week before Christmas.  It was definitely busier but still fun and the kids were able to talk to Bruce the Spruce which is always a highlight for them.

So many pretty lights

The kids talking to bruce the spruce
Burce the spurce always asks the kids questions and then tells a joke and sends the kids off saying "cedar later".  This year Hailey said she had a joke to tell him.  Knock Knock.  Who's there? Yah?  Yah Who?  Who are you cheering for?  Bruce liked that one.

And we watched the train station
The dressed up characters are always a hit with the kids too.

Christmas Eve

Still have many more December/Christmas blogs to write but it is Christmas Eve.  The kids have been beyond excited all day.  Tonight Tyler ran up to me and  said "I can't wait for Christmas!!"  Then he gave me a huge hug and said "Than you for the presents.....even though I don't know what's in them."  Such a sweet boy!

found

Found this lying around on the coloring table one day.  I love it when I stumble upon random drawings Tyler has done but never shown anyone.
