Family Fun Run

Tyler's school and another close by elementary put on a family fun run/walk at the beginning of June as fundraiser.  The race took place at the park near our house and was a 1.5 mile course.  Plans were for Dave and Tyler to run together and for Hailey and I to walk/run together.  Tyler was very excited for the race because racing is what he loves best.  It was a morning run and the weather the morning of was questionable.  It looked like it could start raining at any moment but fortunately we made it through the whole thing without the rain.

Then, 2 seconds before the race started Hailey said she wanted to run with Daddy.  So without even a moment to take of my sweatshirt or stretch I was sprinting after Ty.  It's no secret I like to run.  It's one of my favorite things, especially when I can listen to a book while I'm running.  My standard run is about 3 miles and I have a pretty steady pace, nothing too speedy.  What I wasn't prepared for was to sprint at my full speed for the entire mile and a half.  And in my full sprint I still had hard time keeping up with Tyler.  Very hard on my ego.  Boy, does a little competition light a fire under my boy.
Sprinting from the start
A few minutes later when we crossed the finish line (he ahead of me) Tyler came in 7th overall and I nearly died.  He was 1st place for his grade level.

winded, hot, and happy
A few minutes later Dave and Hailey came running in.

Our first family fun run.....and I think this is just the beginning.

On the ride home Hailey was inspecting her red with cold legs and announced, " hey, I got a cold tan!".

Quiggle Ninja Warriors

The kids, and parents, have become addicted to American Ninja Warrior. We made up our first of what I bet will be many Ninja Warrior courses this summer.

Interesting Comment

Hailey had her dance recital a couple of Saturdays ago.  Friday night was her dress rehearsal.  Her rehearsal was in Everett and on our drive back home we had a new experience.  Right at our exit cars suddenly stopped.  Once a couple of cars in front of us moved on we could see what was happening.  There was a man (young) standing in the middle of the freeway running up to on coming cars to make them stop and then yelling at them.  My heart raced and knees went week, I prayed he wouldn't jump in front of us (who know what he was yelling or how dangerous he might be).  The kids of course were all questions...mom what's happening, who is that.......etc.  Fortunately right at the moment we go to the off ramp he jump in front of a semi (crazy man) and we made it off the freeway.  Moments later, while I recovered, Hailey says "I bet he plays with matches".  Yes Hailey, I bet he does.

Father's Day BBQ

We spent most of today, father's day, at the Mackey's (thank you!) where we ate and talked and ate and talked and then when we were done eating they started up the fire pit and we roasted marshmallows and ate some more.  A good day.  I am so thankful our kids have such a fantastic father!  We love you Dave.

Baseball in photos

Ok, so baseball has actually been going on for the last two and half months and I haven't blogged about it once.  I actually think Dave should do a baseball blog since he has a whole different perspective on it than I do but, I have all the photos.  So, enter a summary of the baseball season in photos (and by summary I mean a whole lot of photos).

A few notes on this years season.  The kids hit from pitching machine pitches.  They had 5 attempts before they were out.  An inning last three outs or 5 runs.  No innings could be started after an 1 hour and 45 minutes into the game.

Tyler's been playing lots of catch with Dave and his throwing and catching have been outstanding.  Fortunately Tyler's good friend Jack is also a great player and the two of them make a great team.  Tyler was also outstanding at his hitting.  I think he only struck out a couple of times the whole season.  More to come from Dave but now on to the season recap in photos.

First Mariners Game of 2012

It has been a rough, busy, stressful couple of weeks. Heck, couple of months! I just got back from a few days of SWAT that started to bring the stress down a bit giving me a break from the stress and reminders of everything I have on my plate both at work and at home. I just knew going to a beautiful summer day game would work even more magic. Plus, Tyler and I got seats on the third base line to watch Ty's favorite player, Kyle Seager.
